Served in U S Navy July 1942 to July 1946 (Four years + one day). USN ID Card Photo taken July 26, 1942. Validated on USS Sigsbee by Lt. Charles P. Daly, June 1945, Pearl Harbor. Gunners Mate 3/c on USS Sigsbee DD-502 January 23, 1943 to August 5, 1945 ( ship hit by kamikaze plane April 14, 1945 off Okinawa). Studied Highway Engineering under Veterans Administration program WV State Road Commission Charleston, WV (worked in Highway Design January 1947 to November 1953). Junior Civil Engineer to Associate Highway Engineer CA Department of Transportation, Division of Highways November 1953 to January 1984. Worked in Los Angeles, Marysville and San Bernardino Districts 7, 3 & 8. Was Design Project Engineer on 40 miles of Interstate 5 in Los Angeles and Sacramento Counties. Retired January 31, 1984. Was Consulting Civil Engineer for Bissell & Karnes and a Caltrans annuitant at Marysville, CA 1986 to 1993. Was Resident Engineer for Alpine County, CA on Bear Valley street rehabilitation fall of 1986 & Emigrant Trail road rehabilitation summer 1987. Family: Wife, Edith K7GND (Married 1996) he has two daughters, one son, two stepsons, a sister, many grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. A third daughter is deceased. Hobbies: Plays Fiddle, Guitar, Dobro & Banjo, Keyboard. Likes Bluegrass music, country music, travel, genealogy, findagrave.com, Ham Radio, A W.W.II USS SIGSBEE DD-502 web site, computer-Internet general research, digital photography, raises tomatoes year around (his favorite food), designs and constructs solar water heaters. Recently acquired a Chevy Geo Tracker 4x4 and is exploring the Southwest Arizona desert and Barry Goldwater Bombing Range.
