I am helping a friend look for photos of his father who served on the Sigsbee during 1945. You have a picture of a document on your webshots page entitled purpleheart etc and his father's signature is on it along with Milton Morgan's. I saw Mr. Morgan's photo in one of the reunion albums and wondered if you knew of anyone had any cruise books from that time. Also, do you know how one could contact Mr. Morgan?

Hi BILLY , Hope you guys made it home safely. Sandy and I returned safely to Detroit Tuesday, with no further car problems.It was an HONOR meeting you and talking with you about the Sigsbee and Tony Sox. Words cannot describe the the closure I feel after 62 years of wondering about my uncle /Godfather. I was 4 years old at that time and never was able to mourn or have closure till I spent the time with you (at Pittsburgh) last week ! TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND YOUR LOVELY WIFE ! Mike Lombardi Gentlemen, I am writing on behave of my father Gerald L Lombardi, my dad served aboard the USS Sigsbee and was WIA during the Kamikaze attack that April 14, 1945. I am very saddened to say that my father passed away on March 18, 2005 in Chandler Arizona. I had my father buried at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix Arizona with full military honors. My father was proud of his 10 plus years in the US Navy and very proud of his service aboard the USS Sigsbee. When I found your site a few years ago I showed the site to my dad and that was all he could talk about for weeks he was so proud, and actually there is a photo of him (dad) with Vincent Palmieri on one of the links on the Sigsbee history page, Dad has a copy of that photo in his Navy album, as well as several of the pictures of the US Sigsbee prior to the Kamikaze attack. I just wanted you to know of his passing and perhaps you could change him in your WIA information as deceased. My father had two sons myself and my brother Jerry, we both served in the armed forces I was and still am in the Air Force and my brother in the Army. We both received and very strong sense of service and work ethic from my dad and we will always be grateful for that. We will truly miss my dad, he was a good man. When I get a copy of his obituary I will forward to you for possible inclusion in you web site. Dora in Florida for the next 3 years. As to the war he did not talk about it much, but I read his diary( several pages were ripped out because he was aftraid my sister and I would read them and be horrified). Senator Jay Rockefeller, Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito and Governor Bob Wise all spoke. This celebration honors our veterans each year and all spoke about the service those veterans render and have rendered. One of the speakers said that we should seek out and thank those who are now and have in the past served our country. I agree. Therefore, I extend to you, Billy Roberts, thanks for sending me information regarding Dad's Navy days and thanks for serving in our military so that others such as I can enjoy the freedom of this great nation.
