Charles P. Grimm
Charles "Buck" Grimm, 79, Somerford Place, formerly of Terra Alta,
W.Va., died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Carroll Hospital Center,
Westminster.
Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Terra Alta, he was a son of the late Robert
Earl and Bertha P. Knotts Grimm. He was also preceded in death by his
wife, Elizabeth Anna Fuller Grimm, and several brothers and sisters.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Terra Alta.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and received a Purple Heart after
surviving the bombing of his ship, the USS Sigsbee, during the battle of
Pearl Harbor (Okinawa). He was a member and Past Master of Terra Alta Masonic
Blue Lodge #106 and a 14th degree Scottish Rites Valley of Morgantown
Member. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and a lifetime
member of the Terra Alta VFW Post #578.
He is survived by three daughters, Gloria Jean Murphy, Manchester,
Anna Mae Rushing, Hampstead, and Beverly June McConnell, Airville, Pa.;
one sister, Marie Roberts, Terra Alta; five grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta.
A service was held today, Thursday, Nov. 17, at the First United
Methodist Church, Terra Alta, with Rev. Michael L. Daniels officiating.
Interment was in the Terra Alta Cemetery.

Webmaster Notes: Charles P. Grimm enlisted in the US Navy February
21, 1944, at Huntington, WV. His service number was 928 66 91. Charles was received
on board the USS Sigsbee DD-502 July 5, 1944, at Eniwetok Island from
ComServPac Furas for duty. He was awarded the Purple Heart for multiple
wounds received during the kamikaze attack and explosion on the USS Sigsbee
DD-502, April 14, 1945. Charles P. Grimm was transferred from the USS Sigsbee
DD-502 January 16, 1946, to receiving station Charleston, SC for further transfer
to Separation Center Norfolk, VA for discharge.
Charles will be sadly missed by his USS Sigsbee shipmates
