67 years ago today, USS SIGSBEE DD-502 was Commisioned at Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn, NY.

 Long live the memory of this valiant WWII Destroyer of the US Navy.

I received email yesterday from Kate Politz with the sad news that A. J. Politz passed away Monday, December 14, 2009. Our thoughts and Prayers go out for Kate and her family. May God Bless and keep them.

I received word today (November 25. 2009) from Hank Elizagaray that USS SIGSBEE DD-502 veteran, Charles "Chuck" Edwards, M3c had passed away. I later verified Chuck's death on August 17, 2009, at Ancestry.com, social security death index.

My friend, Dave Kugler of New Jersey displayed the USS SIGSBEE DD-502 Ships Bell at the Sigsbee Reunion October 23, 2009 at Virginia Beach, VA.

This new, Aegis Guided Missile Destroyer built in Pascagoula, MS was named in Honor of Gordon P. Chung-Hoon  Commanding Officer of the W.W.II Destroyer USS Sigsbee DD-502.  The USS Chung-Hoon DDG 93 Keel was Laid January 14, 2002.  The ship was Christened January 11, 2003 at Pascagoula, MS and Commissioned September 18, 2004 at Pearl Harbor, HI.
